SIS/SRS

One of the fastest growing areas in the industry is both the technology of and regulations (ISA84) around Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS). A safety instrumented system is essentially an interlock (initiator -> logic solver -> final element) that has a mandated operational requirement, meaning that it must operate to a designed and calculated level of reliability.

These designs are highly customized, specified to meet the unique requirements, and are by level of safety required, interlock architecture, specific equipment, testing frequency, among others. The design calculations involve a rigorous, and often iterative, combination of all factors, each of which customizable to tailor to the individual circumstance.

Knowing how to properly and efficiently design a SIL rated system to meet internal and regulatory requirements can be a daunting task. To assist this understanding, members within IE Group have completed the ISA (International Society of Automation) SIS Fundamentals Specialist Certification training. If you have any questions or would like any additional information on the design or evaluation of these systems, please do not hesitate to Contact Us.

If you want to dig a little more into how IE Group can be of assistance with regards to SRS/SIS, take the SRS/SIS Questionnaire below. Don't worry, it won't open up a new window, it is all on this site. It is a series of general questions about your facility that wind up at an explanation of how we can help!
