Engineering

Senior Project Engineer

Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to engineering design.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the day to day generation of engineering deliverables on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines. 

  • Generate engineering work plans, develop cost estimates with input, monitor cost and schedule performance, and interact professionally with project stakeholders.

  • Recommending and if approved, developing and implementing improvements to the processes used by the engineering department for providing engineering services to the customer.

  • Provide multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering and related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers; knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to Design Engineering.

  • Plan and direct the engineering activities on a project.

  • Establish a detailed project design scope and development of the overall project engineering budget.

  • Develop design and procurement schedules for approval.

  • Effectively and professionally coordinate engineering efforts with project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls.

  • Review and approve design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction.

  • Coordinate design activities among design groups on the project, ability to prepare or direct the preparation of project studies, reports, and forecasts.

  • Manage the flow of information required from third parties to assure the timely progress of the engineering work.

  • Review project engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluate changes and take corrective action when required.

Skills:

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.

  • Must be able to comply with all client safety requirements.

  • Skilled in the areas of ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1).

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or related field experience with a minimum of 10 years of professional project engineering/project management experience that provided a thorough knowledge of codes, principles, practices, and techniques of project management as related to facility management and operations type projects. 

  • Current PMP certification considered a plus.

Travel Requirements:

  • Candidates should expect some travel, dependent upon candidate’s location.

​

​Clearance Requirements:

  • Preferred, but not required.

​

Work Hours:

  • A 40-hour work week is schedule.  Each workday has a 30-minute lunch break (unpaid).  Overtime may be required as necessary.
